Your teeth so full of fuzz it feels like you ate a fur coat? Not flossing may be raising your risk of arthritis. Periodontal disease – an advanced case of gingivitis – and the bacteria responsible, are linked to rheumatoid arthritis.
Scientists from the European Union’s Gums and Joints project found the bacterium responsible for gum disease increased the severity of arthritis by resulting in the earlier onset and greater bone and cartilage destruction. Um, no thanks.
Bleeding gums or bad breath are signs it’s time to drop into your dentist for a proper clean. Regular brushing and flossing are the best methods to keep your teeth in tip-top shape, preventing gingivitis. Phew.
